Nalu is an energy drink brand that prides itself on offering fewer calories and an energy boost. They came to EKKO Media looking for a bold, new redesign to that was more in harmony with these elements. The website we produced for them earned several industry awards.
The Nalu Energy drink is a beverage first introduced by the Coca-Cola Company, but it was soon transitioned to the Monster Energy Beverage company. Monster Energy needed to reboot the brand, starting first with a redesigned website.
EKKO Media, with a long-standing relationship with Monster Energy, was tasked with the project. Among the mandates was the desire for a simple user interface, bold colors, and easy navigation.
About The Brand Nalu
Nalu Energy has found a unique niche in the Energy drink market and has build a cult following due to branding of its natural energy products that offer consumers an alternative to the standard sugar energy drinks. It didn't come easy for Nalu Energy as the brand had to fight for shelf space and sales against other major energy drink brands.
The focused product offerings allowed Nalu to stand out from the crowd and the product began gaining market share. This lead the marketing team to having to address the online presence. The Nalu Energy site was in need of a complete overhaul and EKKO Media was up to the task. A Simplified Experience
When Nalu Energy approached EKKO Media for their redesign, they stressed the importance of a design with a natural feel and an easy-to-navigate interface. In addition to the overall visual requirements, the site needed to support multiple languages in deference to the brand’s popularity in other countries. These mandates needed to be taken into account when designing the site.
Core Functionality and Features
The Nalu Energy brand has a strong foothold in Europe, predominantly in Belgium and The Netherlands. Because of this, the website needs to support multiple languages-this was critical to mission success. Adding further complexity was the requirement to display different content in different countries due to region-specific ingredient requirements and restrictions. The new website allows for Admins to post content that is country/region-specific. This is accomplished by using coding that tracks visitors as they enter the site, logs their IP address, and is cross-referenced in our global IP database. The visitor’s IP is then matched to the country of origin and the user is directed to the corresponding country, content and language.
The Nalu Energy site also features a social media feed, providing real-time social media content updates content pulled into the website’s home page which is managed and moderated by Admins. Due to the unique requirements of the site the website, our development required a ground-up, custom CMS built on top of the Laravel framework. This custom CMS allows the Admins full control over all aspects of their site.
Multiple Country & Language Support
The Nalu site allows for visitors as they enter the site to be detected by their IP and directed to the correct country and default language based on their location.
Social Media Feed Integration
Social content from Facebook and Twitter is pulled into the site through the application API's and the admins of the site are then able to review and approve or reject the content through the Content Management System.
Capturing The User With Animation
Subtle animations such as random falling and spinning leaves and smooth can movements are artfully applied to draw attention to key areas of the site.
EKKO Media delivered an award-winning website in just three weeks. This incredibly tight deadline was met, with all requirements including the need for a multi-country/multi-language design having been satisfied. Monster Energy and Nalu Energy Drinks are among EKKO Media’s most loyal clients.
